Litter for Good

Cat Mews, Litter for Good January 5, 2018

How can we all help save millions of shelter cats? One green jug at a time!

You may have seen that we have launched a major company-wide effort to help America’s shelters save more cats. You see, 3.2 million cats enter shelters every year — less than half of which ever get adopted. And sadly, over half are euthanized. We have been donating litter to shelters for decades, but this  is a statistic that really moved us to think about how we could make a greater difference. So, we’ve rolled out our Litter for Good program.

For every green jug of Cat’s Pride Fresh & Light cat litter sold, Cat’s Pride will donate a pound of litter to shelters across America. Two pounds are donated for every box and pail of Fresh & Light litter purchased. With your help, we hope to donate five million pounds of litter a year and twenty million pounds by 2020! So, when you pick up a green jug of Cat’s Pride Fresh & Light, you know you are making a difference. Because with every litter donation, a shelter can afford to put more of its budget toward saving cats in its care. It’s that simple.

And this is not a one-time promotion. We know this can’t just be a side project. It needs to be part of who we are as a company. That’s why we are expanding our commitment to Changing Litter for Good by increasing our donation to shelters everywhere and making it easier for you to help too. One pound of litter donated for every green jug sold.

How can you help? It’s simple!

  1. Click this ‘Litter for Good’ link and join the Cat’s Pride Club, then nominate your local shelter to receive free litter. The more nominations your shelter receives, the more litter it is eligible to claim.
  2. Buy a green jug of Cat’s Pride Fresh & Light. And every time you do, another pound of litter is added to the total amount donated.
  3. Watch and share this video of our President and CEO, Dan Jaffee showing how the program works and why it’s so important for shelters! The more we can get the word out, the more chances we have to save more cats.
